DRAMATIC TETRALOGY OF GNAT HOTKEVICH «BOGDAN KHMELNYTSKYI»: IDEAS AND ARTISTIC INTERPRETATIONS

Abstract

Introduction. In drama (dramatic tetralogy) «BogdanKhmelnitskyi»by G. Hotkevych presented an artistic interpretation of historical processes. Historical reliability becomes a fact of artistic reflection, which is combined with a clear expression of the author’s position. G. Hotkevych forms the image of the Ukrainian hetman, reproducing the breakthrough moments of personal and social life and their interdependence, which determines the course of historical and state-building events. The playwright represents an artistically transposed historiosophical concept of the real and probable development of the Ukrainian state, focused around the image of an authoritative person. Purpose.The purpose of the paper is to determine the integral artistic conception of G. Hhotkevych dramatic tetralogy «BogdanKhmelnytskyi»; the study of historiosophical ideas embodied in the drama; genre signs of the literary work are outlined; the specificity of the artistic structure of the tetralogy is defined Results.The article outlines the structure of the dramatic tetralogy by G. Hotkevych «BogdanKhmelnytsky»; the genre signs of a work are determined; the interconnectedness of content and formforming components can is traced; the historiosophical concepts embodied in the drama, and their artistic expression are analyzed; ideas that structure the content and form of the literary work of G. Hhotkevichare defined. Attention is paid to the definition of the principles of the artistic and aesthetic system construction in tetralogy. The main semantic components forming the artistic integrity are considered: the relationship between the personal and the social and their differences, which leads to the development of the conflict; the role and significance of an extraordinary personality in state-building processes; internal contradictions and their external projections; the reflection of a complex and ambiguous process of distinguishing the true and imaginary issues. The author examines the artistic interpretation of the large-scale, modifiable level of personality and global changes at the state level, the features of the reflection of their interconnections and interdependence are determined. Methods of representing the phenomenon of artistic ambiguity embodied in the image, action, conflict and drama are considered. The forms of correlation between cognitive (aimed at manipulating facts of historical importance) and emotional (focused on the reflection of internal reactions) of perception in the literary work are analyzed. The various methods of presentation used in the tetralogy of G. Hotkevych are explored: the excessive detailing of a large number of small facts is combined with an artistic reflection that acquires a deeply symbolic significance. Conclusion.In the tetralogy «BogdanKhmelnytsky» the author reproduces points of selfdetermination and internal formation of the Ukrainian hetman; simultaneously the playwright determines the main factors, facts, results of the Ukrainian stateformation; G. Hotkevych focuses on outlining the phenomena of personal and social life in the process of their constant modification. G. Hotkevych reflects one of the most powerful Ukrainian hetmans, emphasizing large-scale contradictions. Author's assessment of the possibilities and consequences of hetman's activities plays an important role in the drama
